Tennis Anyone?

I actually took a course in college on how to play tennis! The summer I learned how to play a can of tennis balls cost about $10. Needless to say, I went through a lot of cans because I kept losing them when they went off of the tennis court. How many cans do you think I ended up buying that semester and how much did they cost me?

For 5 cans it would be $50. I skip counted by 10 5 times.

5 cans = $50. I used the counters. I put them in 5 groups with 10 in each group.

One can cost $10. I got my answer by counting by 10s because each can cost $10.

I figured that if he s/he bought 4 cans s/he would spend 40 dollars. I think this is correct because if 1 can = $10, then 4 cans would = $40. I skip counted by 10 by 4 times.

I think 7 cans is a lot because it is worth $70. I figured it out by using graph paper. I colored in 10 squares in 7 rows.

If you buy 2 cans it equals $20. I used repeated addition. I added ten 2 times.

I think he bought 7 cans and each can is ten dollars and 10x7=70 so he spent $70. I used counters to make 7 groups with 10 in each group.

Each can cost $10. If she bought 6 it cost $60. I skip counted by 10 6 times until I got to 60.
